This week brings another provider announcing their own TV connected box, this time it comes from Amazon.
The Apple TV looks to be priced at a similar level to the Apple TV, which is more expensive already that other competitors boxes, including the likes of the Roku device. The premise of it is built around Amazon’s increasing library of content, including Prime Instant Video and Amazon MP3.
Like the Amazon Kindle Fire, the Fire TV is an Android powered device, however it is again a heavily modified version of Android. How many of the updates this will get is a question yet to be answered.
The unit comes with a simple remote control, including voice activation however as yet, this isn’t as useful as it might sound. The voice control is integrated with all Amazon services, but if you have media on another platform, say Netflix, the Fire TV will still show you the options to purchase from Amazon directly.
