The BBC are bringing BBC2 into full HD glory from the 26th of March, however this is coming at the expense of the BBC HD channel. The BBC HD channel has been a bit of a playground for HD content since its creation and has done a good job in bringing HD to the masses, now its time for it to step aside and free up the airwaves to allow BBC2 to take over full time.
BBC HD will be shut down at the same time as the new service starts and BBC 2 HD will become available on Freeview, Freesat, Sky, Cable and BT Vision. The move will allow the BBC to save costs by running it as a direct clone (a simulcast) of BBC2 in HD rather than as a dedicated channel.
