Analogue TV is no more

The final stages of the digital switchover have now been completed successfully, this includes the retiring of the BBC Ceefax Service, which after 38 years of broadcast has been turned off for the final time too.

The whole process has taken 5 years to complete fully and has cost millions of pounds of license fee payers money, but it is now complete it should free up these resources.

Most people have managed to upgrade to digital without problems, anyone that hasn’t yet… now has no picture (Welcome to Snow-vision?). Not only has the process created more choice for consumers (and in some case, a lot more awful TV) it has freed up areas of the airwaves that can now be used for other things, either more TV or improved Mobile phone capabilities.
