This record is up more 35% from last year’s 8.1 million and in large due to an increase in the number of new tablets and phones people have received over Christmas. Almost 1 million downloads of the iPlayer app were made over the Christmas period.

Interestingly, for the first time in the iPlayer’s history more people used tablets and phones to watch content than computers.

The most popular show was Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor followed by Eastenders and Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas Special.
